In recent years the price of ingredients and raw materials have seen an unprecedented rise, with wheat prices rising by over 83% in the past year alone. Ingredients price increases have come at a time of increasing retailer competitiveness, coupled with consumer concerns about spiralling food bills. This has placed food manufacturers and in particular sourcing and procurement departments under intense pressure to deliver maximum value to their supply chains.
